Liverpool remain hopeful that right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be fit to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The regional newspaper reports that the 20-year-old – who has 27 appearances this term – will be monitored closely over the next couple of days after he came off as a precaution in the 4-2 win over Burnley on Sunday after feeling some tightness in his leg muscle, however, the early signs have been positive.

The report also adds that James Milner was absent from the fixture due to a minor hamstring problem, but it looks like he could potentially be ready for the Champions League tie on Wednesday that is too close to call in the football betting markets.

OPINION

Jurgen Klopp was no doubt fearing the worst after he had to take Alexander-Arnold off as a precaution on Sunday – after all, he is their best right-back. This means that the likes of Alberto Moreno may have had to take his place on Wednesday, and seeing as this match is crucial, that is the last scenario the manager would have wanted. Nevertheless, the signs are positive regarding his setback, and this must be a huge relief to Klopp. He is no doubt desperate to progress further in the competition after last season’s heartbreak in the final, and having a pretty much full strength team will fill him with a lot of confidence. Alexander-Arnold has already suffered an injury setback this season, so it would have been cruel on him to endure yet another one. With the mainstay in the side, Liverpool are a lot more threatening on the right wing – so fingers crossed.
