Liverpool have joined seven other teams in chasing Paris FC teenager Silas Wamangituka, according to Le Parisien.

The French outlet claims that the Reds are following the in-form 19-year-old, who has exploded onto the scene with seven goals for his team as they push for promotion to Ligue 1 this season.

The forward is a raw talent, but he has already done enough to attract the interest of a cadre of French and European teams. Paris Saint-Germain, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Saint-Etienne and Barcelona are all tracking the teenager.

The player is expected to cost at least £4.3million as his value is at risk of going above that amount given the level of interest in the player.

OPINION

This is an interesting one for Liverpool. It’s always good to be on the lookout for young up-and-coming talent and it certainly seems as if Wamangituka is that. The 19-year-old has enjoyed a tremendous season in Ligue 2 and, while he’s obviously not playing at the top level, his production at a young age suggests that he could be the real deal. It will be tough for Liverpool to win what is clearly an extremely competitive packed race for the striker, though, and so this probably isn’t one that Reds fans should get excited about just yet. There are plenty of teams tracking Wamangituka, but not many of them would be able to outgun Liverpool in a transfer tug of war. Obviously PSG and Barcelona are the two teams that would be able to beat Jurgen Klopp’s side to the youngster, but Klopp’s track record of bringing through young players could give the Anfield outfit the edge here.
