Liverpool will not be spending heavily this summer and will only look to fine-tune their already impressive squad, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper claims that Jurgen Klopp is more than happy with the bulk of a squad that is in contention for both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

A relatively modest outlay is expected from the Reds having splashed out in a big way last summer, spending around £170million on Alisson, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri.

This news comes after Italian publication Tutto Mercato claimed this week that Liverpool were seriously interested in making a move for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

OPINION

This is what you would expect from Liverpool following their massive summer of spending last time out. They did recoup a smidgin of the money they spent in January through the sale of Dominic Solanke, but they still spent masses on the aforementioned quartet of players. There likely will be some movement out of the Anfield exit door, though, which will generate funds. Players like Nathaniel Clyne, Simon Mignolet, Divock Origi and Adam Lallana could all be on their way out, while Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge are almost certain to depart when their contracts expire in a few months time. Those moves will bring some money in, but nothing that’s likely to affect the Reds’ transfer plans. Fine-tuning is the name of the game, as the report says, and that’s what Klopp is clearly planning to do. If he can get in a top class creative midfielder and another attacker then his team should be set for another assault at the top prizes next campaign.
