Sky Sports pundit Danny Mills has gushed about Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson, calling him a “top class” player.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay under Jurgen Klopp this season by racking up 37 appearances in all competitions, and Mills has been in awe of his ability to excel when going forward and as well as doing a stellar job defensively.

The pundit says that there is no other player he could have picked for the left-back spot in his Premier League team of the season so far other than the Scotland international, who signed at Anfield back in 2017 from Hull City.

“I think he’s been outstanding this season. I think he has been absolutely brilliant. Real top class left-back this season. Outstanding, consistent performances, defensively and attack,” he told Sky Sports [1:45].

“I think he is the only choice to put in at left-back.”

OPINION

It is not surprise in the slightest that Mills has chosen Robertson to take the left-back position in his team of the season so far. To be honest, he is the only choice he could have made. There has not really been any outstanding left-backs apart from the Scot this season, which is why he was the obvious choice this time around. Mills is right though, he has been outstanding. To think that he was Jurgen Klopp’s second choice to Alberto Moreno not that long ago – and now he has gone to being virtually undroppable for the team. You can tell when he is not playing, as Liverpool really struggle when they need to have someone to replace him. It would not be a surprise if other clubs tried to land him in the summer based on his form this term, but the Reds are wise enough not to get rid of one of their best players.
