Jamie Redknapp has predicted that Liverpool will win the Premier League title, claiming that it is the “ultimate prize” for Jurgen Klopp and his players.

As it stands, the Merseyside giants are two points clear at the top of the standings, but have played one game more than nearest rivals Manchester City.

Redknapp has claimed that City are more focused on winning their first Champions League title, which he suggests could serve as a boost for Liverpool and their domestic aims.

When asked if Liverpool can win the title, Redknapp told the Daily Mail: “Yes. City want the Champions League that little bit more. The Premier League is the ultimate prize for Jurgen Klopp and his team.”

OPINION

Liverpool have dropped the ball a bit lately and have a very tough match to contend with on Sunday when they take on third-placed Tottenham at Anfield. Man City meanwhile play against relegation-threatened Fulham on Saturday before playing their game in hand against Cardiff on Wednesday night at the Etihad. Liverpool won’t lose the title to Man City this weekend, even if they do lose to Spurs and City win both of their games in hand. It’s a marathon and not a sprint and there are still games that Pep Guardiola’s men could drop points in. They still have to play Spurs, Manchester United and Leicester, who could be a bit of a banana skin for the reigning champions. Liverpool on the other hand only have one more league game against a top-six club after this weekend, and that’s Chelsea. Klopp and his men can still come out of this season as Premier League champions even if they drop points to Tottenham.
