Games don’t come much bigger than Liverpool’s clash with Spurs at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds know that if they lose that match they could easily be left chasing shadows in the race for the title, and this will be one match that Jurgen Klopp and his men have earmarked as a must win and a potential banana skin.

Liverpool will, therefore, take any advantage they can get over their one time title rivals, and if that includes injuries to key players then so be it.

According to Sky Sports, Dele Alli faces a fitness test to see if he will be available to play in England’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro on Monday night, and if the midfielder is unable to make that game, there’s no saying that he would be fit by the weekend either.

Alli brings an energetic class to the Tottenham frontline, buzzing just in behind Harry Kane and causing all kinds of problems. Spurs don’t really have a direct replacement for that kind of task, and even though the Reds would back themselves to take the win with him in the side, they would feel a lot better knowing that he was ruled out.

You never like to see a player injured, especially one who could be so vital for England on Monday evening, but with the title in the balance, this is no time for sentimentalities, and if Alli sitting at home next weekend gives Liverpool the boost they need to take three points, then you can bet that Reds supporters will be hoping and praying for bad news for the player.
