OPINION

It is safe to say that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has had a bit of a selection headache in terms of his midfield this season.

When you have the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to choose from, you would be forgiven for being in a bit of a pickle. However, Klopp could be set for an even larger headache after the events of Friday night.

Henderson starred in an England team that thrashed the Czech Republic 5-0 that evening, and there is no doubting the role that the 28-year-old played in the resounding win. The Three Lions would not have won by the large margin that they did if it were not for Henderson being right on form.

His performances in a Liverpool shirt tell a different story this term, and there will not be a Reds fan out there who does not think that he has had an indifferent time of it lately.

More often than not, he has been relegated to the bench by Klopp for this reason alone, which is no doubt very frustrating for him personally after the impact he had last time out.

However, Klopp would be mad not to stand up and take notice of how the Liverpool mainstay – who has 32 appearances this term – performed on Friday. He won possession and was often the player who kickstarted the attack for his teammates, and to be honest, he should be undroppable.

Klopp must without a doubt start him against Tottenham on March 31. If he plays anything like he did on Friday, then the decision will practically be a no-brainer for him.

Henderson could now have the chance to turn his indifferent form for Liverpool around after his outing on the international stage. If Klopp gives it to him, he must grip it firmly with both hands.
