OPINION
Liverpool were drawn against Portuguese giants Porto in the Champions League quarter finals on Friday. The Reds fans are jubilant over the news and rightly so. As always in the last eight of Europe’s premier competition there were plenty of top quality teams that Jurgen Klopp’s side could have been drawn against. The German won’t be underestimating Porto by any means, but he’ll be hugely relieved to have avoided the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Barcelona at this stage of the competition. Obviously if Liverpool progress then they’ll face one of Barca or Manchester United in the semi final, but you’re always going to be against a world class team in the Champions League semis. Obviously Liverpool destroyed Porto on their way to the final last season, but there’s no guarantee that it’s going to be that easy this time round. However, they have drawn the consensus worst team left in the competition. Ajax certainly proved their credentials against Real Madrid in the last round, making Porto far and away the kindest draw Liverpool could have got.
