Adrian Durham was left fuming with a Tottenham fan on Monday as they claimed Jurgen Klopp was failing to properly coach Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah.

The Spurs fan called into Durham’s show on talkSPORT in order to point out that the Reds winger hadn’t score for several games and it was the German manager’s fault.

This prompted the broadcaster to be outraged and asked if jealously was the reason behind the remarks as the Reds were still in the Premier League title race unlike Spurs.

“Are you really thinking Liverpool are crying over this?” said Durham on talkSPORT (Monday, April 1st, 17:29pm).

“Is this a touch of jealousy?

“You’re criticising Liverpool, they’re fighting until the end, you waved the white flag at Burnley.”

The Spurs supporter then clarified his comments and said he wasn’t criticising Liverpool, he was “criticising the coaching of Salah” and this seemed to anger Durham more.

“So he doesn’t score every game? So he’s no good? Flippin’ heck, the quality he has got out of Mo Salah since he has got to Liverpool, a Spurs fan, a Spurs fan, comes on here and is like he is not coaching him very well, are you sure you want to keep this up?” Durham angrily ranted.

“Really? Okay, so Jurgen Klopp isn’t coaching Salah very well says Mark, Spurs fan, is that right?”

This saw the Tottenham fan once again fire back and claimed the Reds attacker “hasn’t scored for seven games” and that “if it was Harry Kane you’d be saying Poch was a bad coach.”

OPINION

Durham was definitely left with a bee in his bonnet after hearing a Spurs fan slam Klopp for his management of Salah and it’s easy to see why. While the Tottenham supporter was likely rattled by Durham previously going on a rant about the London club after their lost to the Reds, his comments were baffling. For anyone to claim that Klopp is behind Salah’s lack of goals lately is absurd. Salah may have not scored in his recent outings but he just hasn’t had the rub of the green. The 26-year-old has been playing well and getting in good positions, so it’s only a matter of time before the goals starting racking up for him again. In fact it was Salah’s smart header during the 2-1 win over Spurs that Hugo Lloris handled terribly that led to Toby Alderweireld scoring an own goal. While the winger didn’t get a goal to his name, without his intelligent run inside the box and heading the ball in the right direction, the Reds wouldn’t have got a late winner. Durham may have a point here, when claiming perhaps the Spurs fan is jealous.
