Ashley Cole backed Liverpool to beat Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title this season.
The Derby County defender was asked how he thought Sunday’s games, Crystal Palace against Man City and the Reds against the Blues, would affect the title race.
Cole replied to share that he thought those games would prove to be pinnacle in terms of who was going to lift the trophy, and that the way Liverpool have been playing lately had convinced him that the title was on its way to Anfield.
“I think so, I think today is going to be pinnacle in terms of who is going to win the Premier League and the way Liverpool have been playing I think Liverpool are going to take it,” said Cole (Sky Sports Premier League, Sunday April 14th, 13:04).

Cole confidently backed Liverpool to pip Man City to the post this season and showed no hesitation when delivering his verdict. In fact the current Derby defender even went on to highlight that Man City have several difficult games remaining in the league this season, and seemed to suggest that due to this the Reds were the ones in the driving seat. However Cole did admit that if Man City did the win the games he dubbed difficult, for example their clash with Spurs and Manchester United, then he couldn’t bet against them lifting the title. Yet the points remains, that as it stands ahead of the Reds playing the Blues and Man City’s match with Palace, Cole believes in Jurgen Klopp’s side. Hopefully the Reds are able to justify the Rams defender publicly backing them to get the win by making easy work of the left-back’s former club. If the Reds can get past Chelsea, then belief will be at an all-time high.
