Chris Sutton has revealed that he believes Liverpool have the assets to cause ‘real problems’ to Barcelona ahead of their Champions League clash.

On Radio 5 Live, Mark Chapman came up with the question regarding which front line you’d rather have as your own, Barcelona’s or Liverpool’s.

The pundit responded by looking ahead to Liverpool’s clash with Barcelona and claiming that Andy Robertson in particular had a big job to do, while teammates will also have to be at their best.

Sutton speaking on Radio 5 Live said: “Robertson’s got a big job and the centre halves will have to be concentrated,

“Fabinho, maybe Henderson, Wijnaldum, they’re the ones who’ve got to be really switched on,

“If they do that and they are disciplined, I think Liverpool have the pace and the power to cause the Barcelona back line all sorts of problems.”

OPINION

Arguably, Liverpool have one of the most deadly attacking lines in the world at their disposal against Barcelona. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been completely dominant this season, and this won’t change against Barcelona. Like Sutton said, Barcelona will probably struggle to cope with the pace of Liverpool’s front three, assuming they’re all playing and on good form, as they usually are. However, this all depends on how the Reds defend throughout the fixture, and whether or not they can do this over two legs in Europe. Liverpool have so far been really impressive in the Champions League this season, and after dispatching of Bayern Munich earlier in the competition, they should be going into their fixture with Barcelona with all of the confidence in the world. Although they must be weary going into the Camp Nou, Barcelona will be having the exact same thoughts, as Liverpool’s front three could cause problems to any team in Europe, and there is no doubt about that. The tie will be decided on which team can defend better than the other.
