Adrian Durham claimed that Jurgen Klopp had a conundrum regarding his Liverpool team before raving about how good Sadio Mane had been this season.

The broadcaster claimed that the German manager faced difficulty when it came to needing to change things and seemed to slam the Liverpool manager’s decision in January to withdraw Mane during the loss to Man City.

However while Durham suggested that Klopp’s decision making was questionable, he did point out that the German boss had worked wonders in the transfer market to significantly improve Liverpool.

“He has got a conundrum when he needs to change things,” said Durham on talkSPORT (Friday, April 12th, 17:58).

“I was looking back at the Manchester City defeats in January and he took Mane off, when you think how good Mane has been, probably been the best of the three this season, I’m looking at back thinking maybe that was a little bit of a surprise.

“So sometimes his decision making can be questioned, Jurgen Klopp, however the point you made about whether they’re expensive or cut-price signings, generally his signings has been very good as they have significantly improved Liverpool.”

OPINION

Durham may think Klopp has a conundrum when it comes to deciding which of his star players to sacrifice when his side are having no luck, but that seems a nice problem. Every other Premier League manager would love if their biggest issue was deciding between many top-quality options as it would mean they have depth in numbers. Durham may have a point that Klopp made the wrong decision to remove Mane from the Man City game in January, but if he had stayed on the field would the result have been different? The forward wasn’t in the same red-hot form he is now, and there’s no guarantee that he would have upped his game if he had played the full 90 minutes. Yet while Durham clearly still has doubted resonating from Klopp’s decision regarding Mane in January, he doesn’t shy away from dishing out the praise. The broadcaster happily highlights how good Mane has been this season and doesn’t shy away from saying how influential Klopp’s signings have been.
