Jurgen Klopp is keen on reuniting with Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandoski at Liverpool, according to the Sunday People.

The national newspaper’s print edition (Sunday April 7th, page 52) claims that while the Reds manager is keen to bring the 30-year-old forward to Anfield, they’re yet to show their hand in the race for him.

The People report that Chelsea have made contact with Lewandoski’s advisers over potentially signing him, despite the fact it would take a least an offer of £70million in order to tempt Bayern Munich into selling him.

OPINION

Klopp knows Lewandowski well from their time together at Borussia Dortmund, so you feel that’s where this latest transfer link has come from. It’s highly unlikely the Reds are serious contenders in the race for the 30-year-old as you feel if they’re going to sign a new attacker, it’ll be someone a bit younger. Lewandowski, who has 104 caps for Poland, is a fantastic talent who has plenty of experience at the highest level; but £70million is a lot of money to invest in a player who turns 31-years-old in the summer. When you consider that the forward has scored 35 goals in 39 outings this season then he’d be a fantastic signing to make in the short-term, however for that to be the case his price needs to be dramatically reduced. Also with Chelsea already having made contact over signing the 30-year-old, clearly the experienced forward is set to be one of their main summer targets. So the Reds probably shouldn’t waste their time competing with a desperate Blues side.
