Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has quashed rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

The German was singled out by Bayern legend Franz Beckenbauer as the ideal manager for the Bundesliga champions, as covered by the Daily Mail, and Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport claimed AC Milan wanted to hire him.

Yet Klopp has dropped a huge hint that he isn’t leaving the Reds anytime soon despite this speculation.

He told Die Welt, as translated by Goal journalist Neil Jones: “I have a contract at Liverpool until 2022 and nobody here has the feeling that we should cancel it.

“Neither from the owners nor from my side there is even a tendency in this direction.

“So nobody has to think about that.”

OPINION

This will be music to the ears of Liverpool fans. Klopp is pretty much universally adored at Anfield and the thought of him leaving will be one that fills the vast majority of fans with dread. It sounds, however, like he is entirely content with his lot on Merseyside and it’s easy to see why. He has built a side in his image, and he looks as if he could really kick on start a period of huge success at Anfield, the likes of which hasn’t been seen for some time. You get the impression that Klopp is loyal and a perfectionist, and both of those attributes are indicative of a man who isn’t going anywhere until he has achieved what he sets out to. For the Reds, that can only be very, very good news. It sounds as if they have plenty more years of Jurgen left at Anfield, supporters can breath a sigh of relief.
