Liverpool are interested in signing Wolves left-back Ruben Vinagre, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese news outlet has claimed that Jurgen Klopp asked Vinagre, 19, if he would like to “live in Liverpool” after Wolves’ 3-2 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Watford on Sunday.

The West Midlands club signed Vinagre on a permanent deal from Monaco in the summer after the Portuguese defender spent the Championship title-winning season on loan at Molineux.

He has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season.

OPINION

Vinagre certainly has potential and he could be a very good back-up option for Liverpool as they will more than likely need a new left-back in the summer. Andrew Robertson’s spot on the left-side of the defence will surely be nailed down for years, but Alberto Moreno is widely expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season when his contract expires. James Milner is also another option for Klopp at left-back and he is expected to start there against Porto on Tuesday night with Robertson suspended. However it would still be a better option for Klopp to look at signing someone who is young, has quality and is a natural in the role. While Vinagre has not been amazing for Wolves, he hasn’t had that many chances to impress. The Portugal Under-21 international definitely has some potential that could be unlocked. Liverpool should see if Wolves will bargain for him in the summer.
