German heavyweights RB Leipzig are plotting a £10million+ bid for Liverpool starlet Rafael Camacho this summer, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that Ralf Rangnick’s side are keen to steal a march on several European sides – Sporting Lisbon and outfits from Spain and France – and bring in the in-demand youngster.

Camacho snubbed a five-year contract extension offer from Jurgen Klopp’s side earlier this month, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

With the Reds likely to cash in on the Portuguese before he leaves for nothing, Leipzig have been encouraged to make an eight-figure offer for the versatile teenager.

OPINION

At this point Liverpool are simply better off selling Camacho this summer and moving on from the whole ugly saga. The youngster has become hugely unsettled at Anfield and clearly feels that he has been used out of position as a right back by the club. While that may or may not be the case, he does seem in an awful rush to move on from a club as big as Liverpool. It doesn’t seem as if he’s going to be short of options this summer, though. Sporting have long been interested in bringing him back to Portugal, but a £10million+ bid from Leipzig would likely blow them out of the water. There is also said to be interest from Spain and France, meaning that Camacho can effectively pick what country he wants to go to. A return to Portugal and old club Sporting would obviously be appealing, but then the higher wages and greater quality of football on offer at Leipzig might be enough to turn his head. Either way, Liverpool should move on from him this summer.
