Dean Saunders has suggested that he cannot understand why neutrals wouldn’t be rooting for Liverpool in the title race.
The Reds are embroiled in one of the closest Premier League tussles in recent memory, and Saunders believes that they deserve a lot more love than they are getting.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t get. You can understand why people don’t like Man City, because they think they’ve bought the title. I’m not saying they’re right, but that’s why.
“Why would you dislike Liverpool? What is there to not like? The manager’s a decent bloke, the club have won everything the right way, they don’t lump it, they’re not aggressive.
“Perhaps they’re a bit jealous of the way Liverpool have come right through the history of football.”
"Why would you not like Liverpool!?"
"I understand why people wouldn't want Man City to win it."
"Maybe people are a bit jealous of Liverpool's history."

OPINION
You have to agree with Saunders on this one. What is there not to like about the Reds? They play positive, attacking football, they are a young, exciting side with a charismatic manager, and they haven’t bought their way to the top of the game out of nowhere. Yes, they’ve spent big, but name an elite European side that hasn’t parted ways with astronomical sums of cash over the past decade. It seems that the only reason people don’t want the Reds to win it is because their fans would never shut up about it. Too right they wouldn’t, and they shouldn’t. They’ve waited 29 years, come close on countless occasions and had to deal with constant bashing from all quarters every time they have slipped up along the way. If they can win the league this season, and it is still a very, very big if, then why shouldn’t they gloat for a while? They’d have fully earned the right to.
