Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to deliver his verdict on Mo Salah’s wonder strike against Chelsea.

After watching Manchester City overcome Crystal Palace earlier in the day, Liverpool went into the match knowing that a win was vital to their title hopes.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring early in the second half, and the Egyptian winger doubled the Reds’ advantage at Anfield with a stunning, angled long range rocket, and Premier League all-time top scorer was quick to singles praises.

Writing on his personal Twitter during the match, Shearer wrote: “Strrriiikkkeeeeee”.

OPINION

Oh my, oh my. Mo Salah take a bow. This is without a doubt one of the goals of the season. There have probably been better strikes than this over the course of the campaign, maybe ones hit harder or further into the top bracket, but honestly, to pull this out of the bag with all of the pressure of a tile challenge resting on his shoulders, this was truly special. It came from nowhere. One minute Salah was shuffling along in no-man’s land just outside the box, the next thing you knew it was past Arrizabalaga and the Kop was going wild. The way that he creates space on his left foot is eye-catching enough, but to then fire a shot that pure, that sweet into the top corner, was breathtaking. It arrowed past the keeper before he could really comprehend what had hit him, and it could prove to be vital to Liverpool’s title hopes.
