Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are readying a £4.3million summer offer for Liverpool starlet Rafael Camacho, according to A Bola.
The Portuguese outlet claims that the 18-year-old is desperate to return to his homeland, particularly to former club Sporting, and that Marcel Keizer’s side are counting on that fact this off season.
The Reds are thought to want £8million for the versatile teenager, but they could end up settling for less after Camacho turned down a contract extension recently.
The Portuguese talent is highly rated within the Anfield set up, but has only ever appeared twice for the first team.
OPINION
It certainly seems as if Camcho is destined for the Anfield exit door this summer. He’s someone who is obviously a talented prospect and somebody that Jurgen Klopp likes, but he clearly wants to return to his home country. Perhaps he was hoping to have made more of an impact with the first team by this point, but he’s still only 18 years of age. He’s going to find game time hard to come by at Sporting should he return there, too. So it’s a shame that he feels the need to leave Liverpool, but it’s also understandable that that’s what he wants. He wants to be back in Portugal after all and that’s fair enough. For Liverpool then, all they can do is look to secure as big as fee as possible for him. £8million would be a decent return, but Sporting are clearly banking on Camacho’s desire to play for him. They want to get a cheeky low offer in and, you know what, it might work.
