Dan Walker shared that he loved the fact Mohamed Salah avoided Jordan Henderson’s and Andy Robertson’s attempts to hug him after he scored in the 3-1 win over Southampton.

The BBC presenter joked that it was the best dummy he had ever seen as he showed footage of the Egyptian winger sidestepping his teammates attempt to hug him, which saw them run into each other arms instead.

Walker claimed the off-the-ball moment was brilliant especially as Robertson and Henderson just continued to hug despite both originally aiming to embrace Salah.

“I want to show this from last night, Steve (Sidewell) is this the best dummy you’ve ever seen in your life?” said Walker on Football Focus (BBC One, 12:30, Saturday April 6th).

“Mohamed Salah after the goal managing to avoid Henderson and Robertson…I love the way they continue their hug even though Salah managed to get himself out of it.

“Brilliant.”

OPINION

This moment probably went unnoticed by a fare few Liverpool fans as in this moment they were probably celebrating Salah’s goal themselves. The Liverpool attacker scored a very important goal, that who knows could help decide the title race in hindsight, and his teammates went wild with joy as a result. The Reds had to battle their way back from one goal down to turn the match around against Saints and showed fantastic character in doing so. However while Salah was no doubt thrilled inside at scoring such an important goal, he seemed to celebrate like he was making a point. The usually clinical attacker hasn’t been among the goals lately and some have been loudly questioning whether he is having a good season as a result. Yet Salah has never looked overly fazed by his lack of goals in recent weeks, and has been performing well regardless of whether he’s been hitting the back of the net. Despite this the 26-year-old is no doubt that his latest goal will at least keep his doubters quiet for a few days.
