Former Premier League striker Ian Wright has praised Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson for his performance against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 28-year-old excelled against the Blues as he continued his fine recent run of form, grabbing the assist for Sadio Mane’s opener as the Reds ran out 2-0 winners at Anfield.

Wright was undoubtedly impressed by the England international, with his simple reaction saying it all: “Henderson,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account along with a series of clapping emojis.

OPINION

Those clapping emojis say it all, really. Henderson was absolutely superb yet again for Jurgen Klopp’s team. He is in a rich vein of form at the moment and it seemingly all stems from being left out against Southampton last Friday. He came on at half time in that contest and completely changed the game, before following it up with another excellent display against Porto on Tuesday night. He maintained his momentum with a tremendous performance against the Blues on Sunday, as well. He was sensational, getting around the pitch and driving his team forward relentlessly. Klopp has handed him a more advanced role over the past few games and he has really excelled. It’s clear that he enjoys the freedom allowed by Fabinho’s presence at the base of the midfield and he’s kicked into another gear at the most crucial moment of the season. Wright is correct to applaud him, he was wonderful against Maurizio Sarri’s side.
