Ian Wright has sent his congratulations to Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after he was included in the PFA Team of the Year on Thursday.

The 20-year-old was among the four Reds players to be included in the line up that was largely dominated by Manchester City players, with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba the sole representative from the rest of the Premier League.

After the young England ace got named in the line-up alongside Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson and Virgil Van Dijk, Wright congratulated him on Instagram.

“Yes Cafu,” he wrote on the social media site in response to Alexander Arnold’s post.

OPINION

Alexander-Arnold thoroughly deserved to be in the PFA Team of the Year after the season that he has had for Liverpool so far. It is hard to forget that he is only 20, as the way he plays sometimes makes you think that he has played for the club for quite a number of years. He produces some of the best crosses in the Premier League, and he is one of the reasons why his teammates are able to get the goals that they do. It is no surprise that Wright has said his congratulations to the youngster, as this accolade is deserved after the effort he has put into Liverpool’s Premier League title bid this term. There is no other right-back that they could have that performs the way he does in every game – he may have make a few mistakes, but the fans still love him all the same.
