Liverpool must be on high alert after Lorenzo Insigne dropped a massive hint over a potential exit from boyhood club Napoli.

The Reds reportedly made an approach for the Italian international, according to La Repubblica in February, and they should try again based on his remarks on his future plans.

Speaking to Corrierre Dello Sport, he said: “I am 28 years old [this year] and it could happen that I receive an offer I can’t refuse.

“I’ve proved what I am worth and there are people around who appreciate me.

“I know full well that there are those around who appreciate me.”

There’s certainly enough of a implication from Insigne there to suggest that he could be tempted to leave Napoli at some point in the relatively near future, and that should definitely get pulses racing on Merseyside.

This is especially the case if the Reds are serious about successfully signing one of their reported targets, as his comments are just too teasing to ignore.

The forward, with 13 goals already this season, looks like an ideal option for for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He is agile, pacy, and tricky, and for a side of the Reds’s credentials, he could be a real asset.

Liverpool have been fantastic this season, but looking beyond their front three, it’s hard to see any kind of real strength in depth that would suggest they have what it takes to challenge at the top, top level if any of that trio were to be absent for a sustained period of time.

Bringing in a player of Insigne’s quality could massively help to solve that issue for a Reds side that are on the cusp of achieving something truly great.
