Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would be wise to recall out of favour playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri for his team’s clash with Huddersfield Town on Friday night.

The Switzerland international has barely featured over the second half of the season, but against an already-relegated opponent, Klopp must let the former Stoke City man loose.

Fabinho should come back into the midfield to counter-balance Shaqiri’s attacking tendencies, meaning that Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum must drop out.

Likewise, Trent Alexander-Arnold should be given the chop in favour of Joe Gomez after struggling against Cardiff City. Those three changes would likely be enough for the Reds to slaughter the sunken Terriers.

Alisson is the club’s undisputed number one for a reason and it’s virtually impossible to picture him being axed for Simon Mignolet here. Meanwhile, as mentioned, it’s time to give Gomez a run-out at right back after Alexander-Arnold’s dodgy outing at the weekend.

Andrew Robertson is an absolute must-start these days, while Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk have been playing so well of late that neither one can possibly be dropped at this moment in time.

As mentioned, Klopp would be wise to tinker with his midfield slightly for this one. Fabinho should come in to anchor the midfield, while Shaqiri must start to provide the cutting edge. That would leave only Naby Keita in place from the win over Cardiff.

Up front, though, there should be no change at this stage of the season. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane must all start in attack for Klopp’s team.
