Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane once again made the difference in his team’s Champions League quarter final second leg against Porto on Wednesday night. The Senegal star produced the crucial moment in the game, settling the Reds’ nerves by scoring the opener in their4-1 win in Portugal. The decision had to be referred to VAR, but it was determined that Mane was onside and the goal stood. VAR was certainly needed for that one, though, because the Liverpool attacker looked miles offside initially. But, as he has so often done recently, the former Southampton man rose to the occasion and made the difference for his team. There really needs to be more talk about him as a Player of the Year candidate, as one supporter says. That’s not to say that he should necessarily win that title, but he needs to be in the conversation after the season he has put together. His Porto performance was yet another reminder of just how important he is to Jurgen Klopp’s team.
