ESPN reported on Tuesday that Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has emerged as a £34.6million transfer target for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid. That’s a stunning turnaround for a player who has yet to be considered worthy of a first team place at Anfield. It speaks to what an unbelievable season he’s had on loan at Hertha Berlin, where he has starred in the Bundesliga. However, it’s slightly surprising that so many Reds fans are ready to give up on him. Obviously when you’re talking about such a huge amount of money for a player who’s never really done anything at Liverpool then the supporters are naturally inclined to cash in on him. But perhaps they need to think twice when it comes to Grujic. He really has been phenomenal for Hertha and so surely you’d want to at least give him a chance at Liverpool before they cash in on him. The club have been crying out for a creative midfielder and Grujic is just that. So perhaps the supporters shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the Serbian even if Michael Edwards can get a club to pay a ludicrous amount for him.
