Young Liverpool forward Bobby Adekanye has undergone a medical with Italian heavyweights Lazio, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that the 20-year-old has had his physical tests in Rome after agreeing terms on a triple-your-money deal with Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Adekanye is set to complete his move to the Italian capital on 1 July, the day after his Reds contract expires. He’s said to have turned down the option of a new contract at Anfield and will instead play in Serie A next season.

OPINION

It’s time that this whole Adekanye saga came to an end, really. He’s had the chance to stay at Liverpool and turned it down, so that’s all it is to it. He obviously feels that a move to Lazio is best for his career and is what he needs to do next, so good luck to him. He’s probably seen what Jadon Sancho has done over in Germany since rejecting a Manchester City stay in favour of a move to Borussia Dortmund. He’s excelled in the Bundesliga and perhaps Adekanye believes he’ll be able to do something similar over in Serie A. Whether that proves to be the case or not remains to be seen, but that’s likely what’s in his mind. Liverpool are a big enough club that if a player doesn’t want to be there they can happily kiss them goodbye. That’s the case with Adekanye at the moment, which isn’t going to be too much of a blow to the Reds really. He’s never made a first team impression so there likely won’t be too many Reds stars upset about this departure.
