Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has said that many clubs will be queuing up for Liverpool loan star Ryan Kent this summer.

The 22-year-old has excelled with the Ibrox outfit this season and Gerrard is hugely keen to bring him back to Ibrox. However, he anticipates fierce competition for the youngster.

“Ryan knows we want him as do Liverpool,” he said at his pre match press conference, as per the Liverpool Echo. “But he will have a big decision to make as teams will be queuing up for his services. My advice to Ryan is to go where you will be happy.”

Gerrard knows exactly what he’s doing here. He’s buttering Kent up. He’s just said himself that he wants to bring Kent back to Rangers, which has been well known for a long time now. However, he’s telling Kent to go where he is most happy, when the young Englishman has made it clear that he is really enjoying his football at Ibrox. Gerrard knows that and so he’s essentially telling Kent that he should choose to move to Rangers again. At the same time, he’s inflating the winger’s ego by telling him that he’s been so good this season that there will be loads of clubs in for him in the summer. To be fair, that’s probably true, but Gerrard clearly has his own motives here. In all honesty, though, a permanent move to Rangers would be excellent for Kent. He’s done amazingly well there this campaign and it’s clear he’s happy playing for such a big club under someone like Gerrard. So, while there probably will be plenty of parties in for him, Rangers seems like the right move for him.
