Juventus have made contact with Liverpool over a potential move for manager Jurgen Klopp this summer, but nothing will come of it, according to beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri.

The Italian journalist reports that the Serie A champions contacted the German over the vacant managerial role in Turin after it was confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri will leave the club this summer.

But Palmeri suggests that the approach gained no traction, and Klopp will stay at Anfield.

Writing on his personal Twitter, he said: “BOOM! Klopp has been contacted by Juventus, but with no consequence.”

OPINION

This will be a massive source of relief for Liverpool fans everywhere. It is no surprise that, given the incredible transformation he has overseen on Merseyside, Klopp is a man in demand. The German has proven that he is capable of really lighting a spark at any team that he turns up at, and the fact that he has reached two Champions League finals in the past two years speaks for itself. The top prize is a big draw for Juventus, who have repeatedly fallen short in their efforts to go all the way in Europe, and so it makes sense that Klopp would be approached. Once upon a time, not too long ago, that would have been that. A club of Juve’s size coming in for Klopp would have been enough to see him walk away from Anfield, but now, after the work that he has done on Merseyside, there is an argument to be made that there is no place in the world he would rather manage. Klopp is in it for the long haul.
