Klopp identifies two key areas

Jurgen Klopp will look to bring in a full-back and a versatile attacker this summer, according to the Echo.

The Liverpool manager is understood to be keen on recruiting players in those two keys areas as he looks to replace Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge, both of whom are expected to leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.

The report also claims that any suggestion linking the Reds with a move for a new centre-back is false, with Klopp seemingly happy with the progress of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.

OPINION

If this is true, then it makes perfect sense really. Liverpool don’t need an awful lot this summer. They have one of the strongest squads in Europe, with good depth to it too. You look at that team and there are no obvious areas that need improvement. The only ones that perhaps could do with a bit of freshening up, especially if Moreno and Sturridge are to leave the club, will be the two picked out by the Echo. Andy Robertson is going nowhere as first choice left-back, but it’s important that the Reds have decent cover, especially if they are intent on replicating this season’s heroic European run. As for the front line, a goalscorer will never come in wrong, but with Divock Origi showing his worth once more at the back end of this season, you have to wonder whether a forward is really the most pressing thing on the German’s radar.
