Liverpool will be given the home dressing room when they face Tottenham in the Champions League final, as reported in the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds have been designated as the away team for the clash as they were in the second half of the draw going into the tie, but will still be given the facilities usually used by Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

That changing room is more spacious and luxurious than the away facilities, which will now be given to Spurs because of security reasons to do with proximity to both sides’ sets of supporters.

OPINION

This could actually have a pretty big impact on things in Madrid. Psychologically, going into that massive, top of the range changing room compared to one specifically designed to make a side feel uncomfortable and ill at ease could really give the Reds the edge. Jurgen Klopp’s men will be the favourites going into this match anyways, but anything can happen in a final, and the form book tends to go out of the window. Little things that wouldn’t usually matter, things like dressing rooms or the amount of experience a side has in this kind of high pressure situation, can become magnified and make a real difference to the complexion of a tie. From the off, Spurs will feel like the away side, and if Liverpool can capitalise on that early doors, they could be out of sight before their opponents can even get their bearings on June 1st.
