Liverpool have engaged in scouting missions for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser this season, according to The Independent.

The newspaper claims that the Reds have taken a look at the Cherries’ star man, who scored eight times and bagged 15 assists in all competitions this campaign.

However, Jurgen Klopp is not in a position to offer the Scotland international significant first team football, meaning that he could end up at their top six rivals Arsenal.

Unai Emery’s team are ready to solidify their interest in the 25-year-old with an official bid, with the player now entering the final year of his contract with the south coast side.

OPINION

This is a bit of a strange one. When you look at the Liverpool team it’s hard to see where Fraser would fit in, unless Klopp changes the formation. He’s not a midfielder really, so he couldn’t really play in the midfield trio. That would mean he’d be a back up option in attack, because he’s not going to get in the team ahead of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. He’s a tremendous talent and you’d think that he’s only going to get better in the coming years. However, the Reds don’t really need him at the moment in all honesty. Arsenal, on the other hand, could really do with his goals from out wide and his creativity. With Aaron Ramsey leaving and Mesut Ozil as inconsistent as they come, they need someone other than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to put the ball in the back of the net. So, while Fraser is undoubtedly an excellent player who’d do well for Liverpool, it seems far more likely that he’ll end up at the Emirates Stadium.
