Jose Mourinho has revealed that he will struggle to decide who to support in the Champions League final because he likes both Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino “very, very much”.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham booked their places in the final with stunning comeback victories over Barcelona and Ajax respectively, and Mourinho has admitted that he is a huge fan of both sides’ managers.

Speaking on beIN Sports, he said: “I will be in trouble in the final because I like Mauricio and Jurgen very, very much and I think they both deserve to win a trophy!”

OPINION

Talent recognises talent, and there are fewer coaches with as much talent as Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino. It is little wonder that Mourinho is so impressed with the pair, and the Special One is right to suggest that both would deserve a win in the final. Unfortunately, only one can get their hands on the top prize, and on the balance of this season alone, it would be a travesty if Klopp didn’t win at least something this year. The side he has built is a remarkable footballing machine, one capable of dismantling anybody on their day, and one who would have ran away with the Premier League title in nearly any other year. Winning the league would still be the sweeter of the two achievements, were Liverpool able to manage it, but if not, the Champions League will be a pretty decent consolation prize.
