Ray Parlour has suggested that Liverpool’s Champions League final with Tottenham is too close to call.

The Reds come up against their Premier League rivals in Madrid on June 1st, with both having secured their place in the final through dramatic comebacks in the last four.

And speaking on talkSPORT (May 20th, 9am), Parlour admitted that there was very little in it either way.

He said: “It’s a really hard one to call.

“It’s the flip of a coin. That’s how close it is.

“It could go either way.”

OPINION

Ordinarily, you would suggest that Parlour had gotten this one wrong. Liverpool’s form in the league this season, plus the fact that they have beaten Spurs twice already this term, should give them a very definite advantage in Madrid on June 1st, and that’s probably how fans of both sides will be feeling. That being said, this year’s Champions League seems to have created drama and upset like no other competition in recent memory, and in a one-off 90 minute showdown between two sides who know each other as well as Liverpool and Spurs do, anything could, and probably will, happen. You get the impression that whatever the result, this is going to be one for the ages, and you just hope that the final lives up to the hype that has been created by this stunning tournament. It’s going to be tight, it’s going to be nervy, but hopefully, it will be great too.
