Connor Randall has left Liverpool after the expiration of his contract, according to the Echo.

The 23-year-old defender has made eight appearances for the Reds’ senior side after joining the club as a six-year-old.

The full-back has said his goodbyes to staff and teammates, and is now understood to be considering a number of offers from the Football League and Scotland.

OPINION

It’s sad to see a player like Randall go, given how long he has been with the Reds, but this the right decision for player and club. At 23, he is well down the pecking order at Anfield, and has been training with the U23s for large parts of this season. The implication is that he was some distance from making a first team impression, even after eight outings for the senior side, and if that is the case then it is time for him to move on. No doubt, Randall will be saddened to leave the club he has supported and represented since he was a boy, but he is at an age where he faces a direct decision between playing regularly or not. Evidently, he is a talented lad, and even if his future does lie away from Merseyside, you would assume that he will get his shot elsewhere. Hopefully, he gets his break somewhere.
