Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved into pole position for Liverpool starlet Rafael Camacho, according to Football Insider.

The newspaper claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who finished seventh in the top flight this season, are leading the race for the 19-year-old.

The Reds are braced for offers for the versatile youngster, who can operate at right back, on the wing and in attack. There are multiple sides in England, Germany, France and Portugal eyeing the player.

However, Wolves appear to have the edge at present, ahead of teams like Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Sporting Lisbon.

OPINION

Camacho certainly has a lot of teams after him considering his extremely limited exposure to first team football thus far. He obviously has a lot of potential, which is why Liverpool wanted to keep him around in the first place. However, he seems to be angling for an exit this summer. If that’s the case then the Reds need to cash in on him as soon as possible. Luckily for them, the volume of interest in the player will surely drive his value up, meaning that they can extract a higher fee for him than they maybe once could have. Ultimately if he wants to leave and he rejects a new contract, then the only thing you can do is get as much as you can for him and move him on. Wolves could do with him, as they look to move ever closer to their dream of fielding an entirely Portuguese starting eleven. Seriously, though, Nuno would appear to be a good manager to help develop him. For Liverpool, though, it’s clearly time to get rid.
