Talksport broadcaster Ian Abrahams has suggested that Liverpool winger Harry Wilson will be playing to impress Jurgen Klopp in the Championship play-off final on Monday.

Wilson has been on a season-long loan at Derby County from Liverpool, and has enjoyed an impressive campaign scoring 16 goals and providing four assists for the Rams as they finished in the Championship play-offs, where Frank Lampard’s side beat Leeds United in the semi-final to reach the Wembley final.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer, with the Reds believed to have placed a £25million valuation on the talented winger, according to the Football Insider.

Abrahams has now suggested that Wilson will be looking to impress Klopp during the play-off final and will be hoping to prove his worth to the German’s plans for next season.

“Wilson and he’s got a £25million price tag on his hands, but he wants to go out and prove to Jurgen Klopp that he can play for Liverpool next season, not just be on the bench but play,” Abrahams told Talksport ahead of the Championship play-off final on Monday [10:42am].

OPINION

Abrahams is right to suggest that Wilson will be wanting to use the opportunity of playing in the Championship play-off final to impress Klopp and prove that he can play a part for the Reds next season. Liverpool are thought to be willing to sell the 22-year-old for around £25million and there will be a lot of interested teams after he has had an impressive campaign in the English second tier. It looks like it will be very difficult for Wilson to get himself into Liverpool’s first team next season, with Klopp having the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to call upon within his squad. That means that Wilson might be better off going out and getting a move so that he can be assured of regular games time. However, if he does impress against Aston Villa at Wembley it could help to convince Klopp that he is ready to be given first team opportunities at Anfield.
