Paris Saint Germain are interested in making a potential move for Liverpool midfielder James Milner this summer, according to Le Parisien.

The French outlet report that Ligue 1 champions PSG are contemplating making a move for a midfielder capable of playing in a midfield three during the summer transfer window and are interested in a move for Milner.

Milner’s current deal with Liverpool worth £140,000-a-week [Spotrac.com] runs out next year and the 33-year-old has not yet managed to agree a new deal with the club, meaning that PSG could be able to secure a deal for the midfielder if they firm up their interest.

OPINION

It will be interesting to see what happens with Milner’s future at Liverpool during the summer transfer window, with the 33-year-old being an excellent servant under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Milner has been used as both a midfielder and in the less natural role of a left-back under the German, and has performed reliably in both positions. Therefore, it might be a mistake if Liverpool were to allow Milner to leave this summer, with the Reds wanting to build on this season’s progress which has seen them record 97 points in the Premier League and reach the Champions League final. However, Klopp has got a lot of options to select from in the midfield, which could mean the German is able to allow Milner to depart Anfield this summer. If Milner was to move to PSG it would be a valuable addition for the French champions, with the Englishman offering vast experience at the highest level and providing the flexibility to provide cover in a number of positions. For now the 33-year-old will be concentrating on helping Liverpool win the Champions League in Madrid when they take on Tottenham, before looking to sort out his future in the summer.
