Liverpool defender Conor Masterson is receiving interest from over ten different clubs as he begins to prepare for life away from Anfield next season, according to Football Insider.

The reliable outlet report that Masterson is set to end his seven-year affiliation with Liverpool in the summer, with the Reds releasing the 20-year-old at the end of his current contract

Masterson, who has seen his season disrupted by injuries managing to make only ten appearances for Liverpool’s Under-23 side this term, is thought to be gathering the attention of clubs from the English Football League and the Scottish Premiership, after failing to secure a new deal at Anfield.

OPINION

Masterson will be disappointed to be leaving Liverpool this summer, after spending seven-years in the Reds’ youth team set up after signing from Irish side Lucan United in 2012. However, with the defender reaching the age of 20 it in now vital that he goes to a different club and starts being given the opportunity to play regularly in the first team set up. The Republic of Ireland youth international has had a brief glimpse of life amongst Liverpool’s first team squad, having featured on the bench for the Reds’ first team on three occasions, which has included being involved in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Premier League rivals Manchester City last season. That experience will be invaluable for the 20-year-old now as he looks to secure a permanent move away from Anfield. It will be interesting to see where the young defender ends up in the summer, with a host of teams registering an interest in securing his signature. Wherever Masterson ends up he must ensure that it is a club who will be willing to provide him with first team opportunities for him to develop his potential and prove his talent in senior football.
