Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has been privately advised to find a new club this summer by Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Football Insider.

The reliable outlet report that Lallana has been urged by Pochettino, who managed the England international in his spell as Southampton manager, to make the most of his final few seasons of his career by finding a club who will afford him regular game time for the next few years.

The 31-year-old has been a key performer at Anfield since making a £25million move to Liverpool from Southampton in 2014, making 156 appearances for the Reds, but he has seen his game time limited under Jurgen Klopp in the last two seasons due to injury problems and the form of others in midfield.

Lallana has made just 16 appearances for Liverpool this season, and is expected to be named on the bench for the Reds’ Champions League final against Tottenham, but although the 31-year-old’s current deal worth £110,000-a-week [Spotrac.com] has still got a further two-years left to run the midfielder might opt to move this summer.

OPINION

Lallana has been an excellent servant to Liverpool, but as Pochettino is thought to have advised him the midfielder might be better served if he found a move to a new club this summer. His loss would be a slight blow for Klopp’s side with the 31-year-old providing the option of someone a little more creative from the centre of pitch. However, Liverpool have performed very well this season, reaching a second successive Champions League final and claiming 97 points in the Premier League, with other midfielders being integral parts of the Reds successful campaign. Therefore were Lallana to move on this summer Klopp would still have plenty of midfield talent to call upon next season. At the age of 31 Lallana is entering the final stages of his career and will be wanting to get guaranteed regular game time in the Premier League, and there would be few at Anfield who would begrudge him of that after his excellent service to the Reds in his spell with the club. Whatever happens with his future this summer Lallana should be fondly remembered for putting in some very good displays for Liverpool during his time at Anfield.
