Liverpool have made enquiries and contacted Fluminense about attacker Joao Pedro despite Watford already having a deal in place, according to The Mail.

The national newspaper claim that the Brazilian 17-year old has already agreed to sign for Watford which would see him arrive at the club in 2020, for an initial fee of £2million.

However, there is a clause in the contract which suggests that should the deal fall through, then the rival club must pay £20million to Watford for the player.

The Mail claim Dassler Marques, one of Liverpool’s scouts, watched Pedro score a hat-trick for Fluminense in their 4-1 win over Atletico Nacional on Thursday.

The newspaper also states that Manchester United have made enquires.

OPINION

It seems like there is a lot of attention coming in for this Brazilian starlet, however the main issue for Liverpool may prove to be the initial agreement that is already in place between the player and their Premier League rivals Watford. If the Reds were to pay the contracted £20million for Pedro, then it could prove to be a huge risk to take, considering the player is still only 17-year of age and not yet fully developed. Also, it comes a great risk as the player has no previous experience of playing football in England, which could prove to be too big of a step up for him once making the switch. It seems like Liverpool will have to be completely serious in their enquiries, and have full faith in the player if they are to make the bid, as they may end up having to pay a lot more than they previously expected to acquire his services for the coming season.
