Liverpool must swoop for Chukwueze

No matter how many trends and fads football goes through, you cannot overestimate the value of a player capable of getting the ball down and running at men.

Nothing terrifies a defender more than a pacy, tricky forward willing to put them on the back foot, and potentially even on their backside.

It’s a fairly simple ethos that has been embraced fully at Anfield in recent years.

The likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are world leaders in full-back humiliation, and even Liverpool’s own full-backs, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, know a thing or two about terrorising their opposite numbers.

That’s why the Reds should not hesitate to swoop for one of the brightest young tricksters the European game has to offer.

Villareal winger Samuel Chukwueze may only be 19, but he has already amassed a pretty impressive highlights reel.

The Nigerian is an old school speed demon; a direct, fearless run with a burlap sack full of tricks to boot.

He loves nothing more than turning defenders inside out with his fast feet, and with 10 goals in all competitions this season, he clearly has an eye for goal as well.

The Kop will be delighted to hear, therefore, that Chukwueze is being monitored by their side, according to the Daily Mail.

The youngster is named as one of a series of players being assessed by the Reds, but he could prove to be the one that is a real masterstroke.

Still relatively unknown, he could become a top quality talent over the next few years.

Where better to do that than Anfield?
