With another Premier League season over, clubs will now turn their attention to the transfer window and look for fresh signings to improve their squad.

Every side will be looking to make sure that what went wrong this campaign can be rectified by strengthening certain areas and it is no secret that Liverpool lack attacking cover.

A name that has been linked with the Reds, is the Uruguayan Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez who GOL Digital claim has a £43million release clause with Liverpool are willing to meet and they must think twice before doing so.

The same report suggest’s Klopp will face a battle for his signature from fellow Premier League clubs, Tottenham and West Ham.

At 22-years-old, Gomez does hold great potential but hasn’t exactly been in great form in Spain to justify the big price tag. His club, Celta Vigo are flirting with relegation after a poor campaign for everyone involved at the club.

Gomez has scored 13 goals in La Liga this term in his 34 appearances after joining in 2017. With only five assists, the Uruguayan needs to be involved more to justify his big price tag.

To make matters worst, Gomez has actually been outscored by his fellow forward and ex-Liverpool flop, Iago Aspas who has five more goals in the league that his South American partner. Aspas, 31, has excelled back in Spain and has been involved in 24 goals in his 26 appearances.

Although a move for a young, hungry striker can seem all good and tempting, Maxi Gomez is still not ready for the pressure of Premier League football, especially for a team consistently challenging for the Champions League.
