Another Premier League season has come to a thrilling end and the time has come for pundits to pick their standout performers from the campaign.

Liverpool missed out on their first league title in 29 years after finishing one point behind Manchester City who claimed back to back Premier League titles.

Jamie Redknapp has hailed Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker as his star signing even though the Brazilian failed to made his team of the season.

The former Liverpool man was right to praise the impact Alisson has had on his new side after joining in the summer from AS Roma.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were a goalkeeper away from challenging for major silverware with both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both making continuous mistakes, none more costly that the one which led to the Reds losing last year’s Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column: “Liverpool needed a goalkeeper after Loris Karius’s errors in last season’s Champions League final. They paid a then-record £65million to sign Alisson but the Brazilian has been worth every penny.”

“There may have been some nervy moments when he has dwelled too long in possession but his 21 clean sheets say it all.”

Alisson has been a bystander in most games with his side dominating possession but when called upon he has been magnificent. In his first season at Anfield, he joined an elite club by passing 20 clean sheets, picking up the Golden Glove award in the process.

With the platform Jurgen Klopp has set this season, Liverpool are ready to challenge for sliver ware every year now and that starts by having one of the best goalkeeper’s in the League.
