Manchester United YouTube star Mark Goldbridge has hit the roof at suggestions Liverpool might steal Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes from under the Red Devils’ noses.

The United Stand presenter was responding to suggestions from Italian journalist Pietro Balzano Prota that the Reds have made an 11th hour bid to snatch the Portuguese international from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Goldbridge isn’t happy: “If Liverpool do swoop in and get Fernandes because United have fell asleep on another deal…..,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

“Not going for Fabinho was bad enough but scouting a player all season and missing out because you want to pay half the fee in Tesco vouchers.”

OPINION

Goldbridge is probably summing up the mood of the entire Man United fan base, here – and the Liverpool supporters will be absolutely loving it. To be fair, if the Reds were to swoop in and sign Fernandes simply because United were trying to do a deal on the cheap then Solskjaer’s team would only have themselves to blame. Fernandes is a world class talent and so sometimes you just have to pay what the selling club wants. United have been messing around with the Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal already this summer, and Goldbridge is clearly worried that they will miss out on Fernandes as a result of the same policy they are using with Crystal Palace. At this point you have to say that if United decided against going for Fabinho last summer then that was a colossal mistake, because the Brazilian was superb for Jurgen Klopp’s team this term. Could the German beat United to another top class signing?
