Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho has all but agreed a deal to join Sporting CP, according to Record.

The Portuguese newspaper claims that although the attacker, 19, is ready to quit Anfield, the Reds are yet to agree on the details of the transfer as they want to include a sell-on clause and a buy-back fee in the deal.

It is understood that Liverpool have lowered their demands from £8.9million to around £5.3million, but they still want the ability to make further cash on Camacho in the future by adding extra clauses to the transfer.

Camacho’s contract at Anfield will expire at the end of next season and Record states that the Portugal Under-20 international is unwilling to agree new terms on Merseyside.

OPINION

Sporting CP are unlikely to agree to both a sell-on clause and a buy-back fee in a deal that would take Camacho from Merseyside to Libson this summer. Why would they? They are the best-placed team in these negotiations because Liverpool look like they have to sell the player this summer otherwise they run the risk of him leaving for free in a years time. It just shows that the Reds’ stance in these talks has been weakened with them lowering their valuation of Camacho, so they are bound to baulk on at least one of the two clauses too. Sporting CP should try to agree a high buy-back clause with Liverpool, rather than a sell-on fee. If there’s a sell-on fee then Sporting will have to let Liverpool have some of the cash they make off the attacker in the future. Camacho seems desperate to quit Anfield so if the Reds include a buy-back fee, the player could always refuse the move to cancel out that clause.
