Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo has said that he thinks he is “in love” with Rangers after his first day at the Ibrox outfit.

The winger joined up with Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, now manager at the Glasgow giants, on a season-long loan deal signed on Tuesday (18 June), having spent time with Reims in another temporary spell during the 2018/19 campaign.

Taking to his personal Twitter account to react to the first day’s training with Gerrard’s side, which also happened to be his 22nd birthday, Ojo, posting a picture of him wearing a birthday hat, was left drooling.

He wrote: “I think i’m in love with @RangersFC. Thankyou all so much for the Birthday messages!!!”

Opinion

It sounds as though Ojo’s first 24 hours or so at Rangers have been a positive one and that is really good to hear. It can be difficult making the move from club to club as a loanee and moving from France to Scotland without heading back to his parent club might have made him feel a little lost. It appears as though the Gers have taken him in as one of their own and that is only going to help him settle quicker and ensure he is feeling confident the first time he takes to the Ibrox pitch. This is a big loan move away for the winger, having seen his progress at Liverpool somewhat grind to a halt. If he wants to make something of himself at Anfield he needs to go out all guns blazing and then some more. With speculation over Ryan Kent’s future, the former Rangers loanee having dazzled during his time at Ibrox, Ojo knows that only top quality performances are going to get him back into the first team fray under Jurgen Klopp.
