Liverpool winger Rafael Camacho has agreed terms on a deal which will see him move to Germany with Schalke, according to Kicker.

The German publication claim on their website that the 19-year-old winger was in high demand across Europe, with the likes of Sporting Lisbon, Borussia Dortmund and Benfica looking at snapping up his capture but it is stated to be Schalke who have won the battle.

Camacho, who made two appearances for Liverpool’s first team, will be linking up with former Huddersfield boss David Wagner at the Bundesliga outfit and despite his versatility, with an ability to play right back, sees himself as someone who is more dangerous at the other and of the pitch.

Opinion

This is a turn up for the books. Reports have been circulating over where Camacho might end up but it looked like a move back to Portugal was on the cards. Schalke appear to have beaten some serious competition to the youngster’s signing and with the likes of Jadon Sancho moving from the Premier League to Germany’s top flight, there might well be the feeling he can enjoy the same sort of success as the Borussia Dortmund man. It seems as though a lack of playing time at Anfield has contributed to his impending departure from Merseyside and that is something that Jurgen Klopp has got to be wary about. If he does not give youth a chance then he might well find himself losing the next hot prospect from his grasp. The likes of Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold will attest for the manager supporting their fledgling careers but you would imagine that Camacho might not give the same glowing review of the German.
