Liverpool have enjoyed a great transformation period since being taken over by Jurgen Klopp, with the German boss bringing success back to Anfield.

The attacking football that has been adopted by the Reds has been a pleasure to watch over the past couple of years, and their Champions League success in June was a reward for their daring fast-paced style.

One of the most excitable discoveries since Klopp coming to the club is that of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 20-year-old has made 85 appearances since breaking into the side and his performances have catapulted him into quickly becoming one of the standout right-backs in the world.

A recent report from Spanish publication AS has placed Alexander-Arnold in the 20 most expensive players in world football and in particular the most expensive defender at £116million.

The England international is fully deserved of the price, after proving himself mainly in attack over his defensive duties. Alexander-Arnold was vital in Liverpool’s charge at the Premier League title, where they eventually missed out by a point.

Klopp adapted the fast-paced style quickly at Anfield, and Alexander-Arnold epitomises that. On average the youngster is Liverpool’s standout performer when in possession of the ball, making 1.7 key passes on average per game [WhoScored]. This impressive stat led to the youngster delivering the most assists of any defender last season (12).

His corner in the Red’s 4-0 Champions League victory over Barcelona was a standout moment in his career, with his emergence in their run to European glory making him one of the world’s most valuable defender.
