The chances of new signings arriving at Liverpool this summer are very unlikely despite owner John W. Henry promising Jurgen Klopp money to spend, according to Bleacher Report.

The American news outlet claim that the German boss is happy with his side, and believes that his squad is complete after their recent Champions League success.

Bleacher Report have stated that Reds owner Henry has promised Klopp he will be backed this summer but the German doesn’t want to spend much cash to spend – despite Michael Edwards having a list of targets prepared for the Anfield boss.

With players such as Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge being released, the most likely signing would be a new left-back to act as cover to Andrew Robertson.

OPINION

This will no doubt come as disappointing news to all Liverpool fans, who will want their club to build on their European success by adding strength in depth to the side. With Divock Origi reportedly ready to sign a new deal, new attacking options may be at the bottom of the list for Klopp. The departure of Moreno will definitely see the German look to bring in back-up to Robertson, and a new central defender could be needed should Dejan Lovren leave the club. Reports suggest that Liverpool have placed a £25million price tag on the Croatian amid interest from AC Milan. Should Lovren leave the club, a new central defender will be key – with Joe Gomez providing cover both centrally and for the right-hand side of defence. If you compare Liverpool’s squad to Manchester City’s, you can understand how Klopp’s men missed out on the title, with their bench being significantly weaker. Pep Guardiola subbed off Sergio Aguero 23 times during the season, whereas Klopp could only manage to rest his marquee forward in Mohamed Salah 13 times. [PremierLeague]
